Default Warrior taking insane magical damage

Hey guys,

I have a problem. I have a lvl 20 Warrior/Ele... and I can take physical damage with him just fine.. But when it comes to Magical Damage he just craps out and takes insane amounts of damage.... is there anything that i can use to counteract this? i have been searching all over the forums to see what i can find... but no luck so far!!!

Elemental Resistance (Mesmer), Ward Against Elements (Ele) comes to mind, or just ur standard warrior armor buffs like "Watch Yourself" or Dolyak Signet.

armour of earth it gives you a good 45+ armour for elemental and physical damage and should only be slowing you just a little if u use this aswell as watch yourself or dolyak signet or even defy pain u can tank extremly well blus you could also change your armour say if u were wearing glads armour change to platemail which offers 85 to all dmg as aposed to 80 glads gives also go for 16 shield

Well it all depends on your set up I find that my warrior can manage to drop the Desert Hydra damage down to 8-13 damage from their spells a hit.

Obsidian Flesh means you cant be targeted by spells if thats what you wanted by magical damage

Downside to Obsidian flesh is I don't think a warrior can keep it up non-stop.

as many people have already mentioned, try looking at skills that give you +xx armor. it helps a lot.

How far are you in the game (Level 20 doesn't quite narrow it down entirely nowadays), what set of armour do you use, upgrades on your weapon, axe sword or hammer, shield defense, define "insane" amounts of damage.

ok... well that helps out a lot. i am going to look into this obsidian flesh thing! my warrior isn't ascended yet.... but very close. i have platemail armor. I have a fellblade and a shadow shield. and what i mean by insane is that any other place i go (ascalon, borlis pass, shiverpeaks, even as much as lions arch) i can take damage all day long. but you get me out in magumma jungle near a wind rider or anything that uses spells... i am screwed! Like 10 hits or so... from multiple monsters... and i am so dead!

thanks for the suggestions guys!

Aha. Go to Henge of Denravi. Get the Liutenants Helmet. It halves the duration of hexes on you = half damage from wind riders or any other hexing caster.

Get the 85 Wyvern or Platemail armor, and get an Armor +7 (vs Elemental damage) for your weapon, and a shield.

Wind Riders use armour ignoring damage, that's why they're killing you. In addition, they also toss around Conjure Phantasm which is degeneration. Naturally, any class will fall to that regardless of defense eventually. I can't recall whether or not they use Shatter Enchantment; if so stop casting enchantments before you encounter them. Cry of Frustration can also be avoided provided you're not using any skills that take too long. Note that this includes clicking an attack skill too early, the AI will register that a skill is in use and they'll nail you with a Cry.

you do realize that the enemies are supposed to get harder as you progress through the game, right? so, it kinda makes sense that enemies in the jungle will do more damage than those in ascalon.

also, please tell me that this is your 2nd or 3rd or 4th character.

Yes i know they are supposed to get harder... But when i attack something non magical... i dont take much damage at all. but magical creatures will kill me in a heartbeat...

Lol I love your posts Murder.....

I found just using the skill "Watch Yourself" helped me enormously in the later levels. It was much more useful than mending!

Still it wouldn't be much of a game if you were strong agaist everything. Warriors gotta work with the team just like everyone else.
